18 Sep 1841, Portsmouth, Orders received to expedite the building of this vessel.

30 Jul 1844 detained in Lat. 7° 38' N. Long. 13° 36' W., after a chase off Sherbro the Spanish slaver Constancia, alias Volador, J. B. Zavala stated to be master, but in reality probably Cenon Ignaci Aldecoa, which was sent for adjudication to the British and Spanish Mixed Court of Justice, Sierra Leone and on 8 Aug 1844 and sentenced to be condemned.

7 Oct 1844 a slave brigantine, name unknown, was run ashore, and destroyed by captor, and was officially condemned on 2 Jan 1845 by the Vice-Admiralty Court, at St Helena.

7 Oct 1844 a slave vessel, name unknown, supposed to be the Piedad, and was run ashore by her crew, and subsequently destroyed by the captor, and was officially condemned on 2 Jan 1845 by the Vice-Admiralty Court, at St Helena.

2 Nov 1844 detained a slave brigantine, name unknown, supposed to be the San Jozé, of 110 tons, which was condemned on 5 Dec 1844 by the Vice-Admiralty Court, at St Helena.

1 Mar 1845 detained off Quanza, near Loanda, a slave Brig, name unknown, supposed Albanez, of 214 tons, which was condemned on 3 May 1845 by the Vice-Admiralty Court, Sierra Leone. When captured she had on board 705 negroes, but by the time the vessel was condemned 148 had died, and only 557 were emancipated. 14 Dec 1848 the second instalment of slave bounty and proceeds of sale of schooner due.

5 Jul 1845 a slave Brigantine, name unknown, supposed Beija Flor, of 170 tons (foreign), which was run ashore by her crew on the approach of the Albatross, and destroyed, was condemned by the Vice-Admiralty Court, at St Helena.

11 Jul 1845 detained a slave Brig, name unknown, supposed Susan May, of 184 tons, which was condemned on 14 Aug 1845 by the Vice-Admiralty Court, St Helena.

22 Oct 1845 the Styx and Albatross detained the Brazilian slave brig Regenerador, off Badagry, Antonio da Cunha Bitencourt, Master, following which she was sent for adjudication to the Vice-Admiralty Court, at Sierra Leone, where she was condemned on 5 Dec 1845.

24 Mar 1846 off Gallinas. Commanding Officer in talks with King Manna of the Krooman, regarding the Treaty that K. Manna is in breach of.

14 July 1846-47 paid to the officers and crew £28 3s. 0d., amount of the excess of expenses incurred in prosecuting a brigantine, name unknown, supposed to be the Beija Flor, condemned at St. Helena.

19 June 1847 the Albatross and Devastation and detained the slave felucca Name unknown, supposed to be Rosetta, condemned at the Vice-Admiralty Court, St. Helena. 15 June 1849 proceeds of tonnage bounty due for payment.

22 July 1847 Albatross and Grappler detained the slaver Prendadore, condemned at the Vice-Admiralty Court, Sierra Leone. 18 July 1849 slave and tonnage bounty due for payment.

1 Feb 1848 detained the slaver Importador, which was condemned by the Vice-Admiralty Court, at St. Helena.

13 Feb 1848 detained the slaver Monarcha, which was condemned by the Vice-Admiralty Court, at St. Helena.

18 Feb 1848 Albatross and Styx detained the slaver Gentil Africano, of 316 tons, which was condemned by the Vice-Admiralty Court, at St. Helena.

29 Feb 1848 detained the slaver Constancia, condemned at the Vice-Admiralty Court, St. Helena.

18 Jan 1850 Proceeds of hull &c., tonnage bounty and sale of chronometer due on Gentil Africano payable,

2 Feb 1850 Is expected Sydney daily, having been ordered to return to England, via Sydney, Auckland and the Falkland Islands. She was at Labuan last August.

9 Feb 1850 It is now reported that the Albatross will probably sail direct for England.

20 Jul 1850 Tonnage Bounty and proceeds of hull &c. for Importador and Tonnage Bounty for Constancia, now payable, along with Tonnage Bounty and proceeds of chronometer for Monarcha.


The Albatross - Notice is given to Captain Arthur Farquhar and the officers and crew of her Majesty's ship Albatross, who were actually on board and entitled to share in the bounty money awarded for the destruction of pirates at Borneo on the 31st July, 1849, that the distribution thereof will be made on the 23rd of April instant, at No. 1, James'-street, Adelphi, and where the lists will be re-called every Wednesday and Friday for three months, according to set of parliament.
