1 Jan 1799 CO : Lt R Young, stationed at Downs and North Sea. (N.C.).

26 May 1799, letter from HM hired armed cutter Ann, at the Downs.
In obedience to your orders of the 23d inst., I proceeded for the protection of the fishery off Folkestone. I last night weighed with 5 boats ; at eight P. M. saw a lugger and gave chace ; after a running fight of two hours, I came up with and captured her ; she proves to be L'Aimable Therese, of four carriage guns and 27 men.- I am, &c. R. Young."

21 Nov 1799 captured the small French privateer Petit Diable, 8 men, M. Simon Robert Saltitat, Commander, about 10 miles off Beachy Head.

27 Jun-8 Jul 1800 involved in the operation to capture the French frigate Désirée from Dunkerque harbour and burn other vessels. The Désirée was subsequently purchased into the Service.

18 Oct 1804 Ann, Bold, Cruizer, and Florence captured the French privateer Contre Admiral Magon in the North Sea.

11 Feb 1805 the De Hoop was captured by the Cruizer. John Sherriff, late commanding officer. [I presume that the Ann was either in company or in sight in order to be entitled to a share of the prize money.]

25 Sep 1806 prize money resulting from the capture of the De Hoop and the Contre Admiral Magon due for payment.
