Notes:
28 Aug 1796 whilst becalmed off Cape Henry, a squadron including the Assistance, Captain Henry Mowat, sighted 3 French frigates : once able to make sail the Topaze brought the sternmost of the enemy's ships to action. This ship, the French frigate Elizabet, fired a broadside and hauled down her colours, the other 2 frigates escaping in the approaching night.
1 Jan 1799, at Halifax.
31 Aug 1800, Plymouth, arrived from Halifax, after a passage of 6 weeks with HRH Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, who, after all the usual marks of respect had been paid departed for Weymouth, to pay his duty to their Majesties.
1 Sep 1800, Plymouth, sailed for Portsmouth.
