13 Jul 1851 Every exertion has been made in expediting the fitting out of the Odin, screw (sic) frigate, at Portsmouth, by the officers and crew of the Dauntless, and by the officers and men of the Dockyard. Since Monday they have worked early and late, averaging 10 hours each day.

12 Oct 1851 Having encountered heavy weather in the Channel put back to St. Helen's on Sunday. During the time she was out one of the pipes of the condenser of her cooking galley (Grant's) gave way, which it was necessary should be repaired before the ship left England.
