22 Aug 1798 Naiad, joined by the Magnanime, chased and captured the French 36-gun frigate, Décade, which was added to the navy as a 12-pounder, 36-gun frigate.

1799 The replacement of long-guns by carronades meant that the Décade, originally designed as a 38 gun frigate, was to be armed with additional carronades, making a total of 44 guns, thus making a nonsense of the current rating system.

22 Mar 1805 To Mediterranean

10 May 1805 has joined Nelson's fleet prior to sailing for the West Indies.

15 May 1805 arrived Madeira : and Barbadoes 4 Jun with news that the French fleet was in the West Indies : was joined by the Spartiate : 13th arrived Antigua and sailed for Europe.

17 Jul 1805 arrived off Cape St.-Vincent.

21 Aug 1805 Décade, from off Cadiz, sailed to England with R.-adm Sir R Bickerton, to recover his health.

19 May 1806 sailed from Plymouth as part of a squadron under R.-adm Sir R J Strachan to cruise off Madeira and the Canary islands. 8 Aug arrived Barbadoes. 18 Aug. having sailed the squadron was separated by a gale.
