9 Nov 1844 The Vestal has brought intelligence that, upon the receipt of the late transactions at Tahiti, the Admiral of the South American station immediately despatched H.M.S. Fisgard 42 guns, HMS Modeste, 18 guns, and H. M. second class steamer Cormorant, the purpose of protecting the Tahitians from the French aggressions, until further advices had been received from the Home Government.
Aug 1845 The Fisgard was at Callao, and Captain Duntze was left senior officer on the coasts of Chili and Peru during the absence of the Admiral.

20 Apr 1851 Master PCD Bean apptd Master of the Fisgard, flag ship at Woolwich. Mr Bean was wounded in the Burmese War whilst serving on the Liffey ; and received medals for service on the Coast of China whilst serving onboard the Herald and the Druid.
