Jul 1830 Building at Sheerness

30 Apr 1836 additional shipwrights have been transferred to expedite the building of this vessel.

Portsmouth 25 Jun 1836 is reported to have been taken out of the dock at Sheerness having been coppered.

9 Jul 1836 is expected to be commissioned shortly.

Plymouth 20 Oct 1836 Bellerophon, Vanguard, Pembroke, Hercules, Inconstant, Pique, and Pantaloon, the Experimental Squadron, sailed for Lisbon.

Cadiz 2 Nov 1836 arrived with the Vanguard, Pique and Pantaloon.

Cadiz 4 Nov 1836 sailed for Lisbon and touched there on the 11th inst.

Portsmouth 19 Nov 1836 arrived from the Tagus.

Portsmouth 24 Dec 1836 sailed Wednesday last for Plymouth and Corunna, with arms for the Spanish Queen's service.

Portsmouth 7 Jan 1837 is reported to have departed Santander about a week ago for England.

Lisbon 16 Apr 1837 reported to be in the Tagus.

Lisbon 8 May 1837 the Talavera, Pique and Inconstant have arrived from a cruise and sailing trials.

Lisbon 24 Jun 1837 arrived from Cadiz.

Lisbon 2 Jul 1837 sailed for Corunna to join the Pique, Castor and Hercules, who are reported to be waiting to sail on a cruise.

28 Feb 1839 Plymouth arrived Inconstant, 36 Captain Pring, from Halifax, whither she had conveyed from Cork detachments of the 37th and 69th regiments. The Inconstant made her passage out in 16 days, having reached Halifax on the 7th Feb., and returned thence to Plymouth in 14 days. The crew suffered much from the cold, with several having been frost-bitten, and had toes amputated.

29 Dec 1849 It is reported at Sydney that the barque Volunteer, which left Sydney on 24 May, has been deserted at Monterey.[Crew gone to the Gold Rush ?] The Inconstant despatched men to take her on.

6 Feb 1850 The Two Friends, which left San Francisco 9 Dec 1849, and has just arrived in N.Z. reports that the Captains and crews who deserted for the gold fields were getting tired of digging and were returning to the port and that the Inconstant was enabling them to get away from the port to Valparaiso, by putting men onboard from her own crew. The following ships have been sent from San Francisco to Valparaiso: Arequipo, Louisa, John Ritson, and William Watson.

15 Jan 1850 Sailed from Callao for San Blas, from thence along the coast, collecting freight. It is understood that the Inconstant will be in England and paid off by December next.
