21 Jul 1840 Mr. Samuel B. Cook, master of the Lucifer, at present serving in the Lizard, Captain F. W. Beechey, engaged in a survey of the coast of Ireland, has been appointed master of the Firebrand Admiralty steam yacht, vice Saunders deceased.

14 Nov 1840 arrived at Woolwich from the coast of Ireland ; the officers and crew have been turned ever to the Lucifer.

27 Nov 1840, was recommissioned at Woolwich on Thursday by Mr. Felix Loney, second master.

11 Dec 1840 Lieutenant W. G. B. Estcourt (1837), to be Commander ; Mr. J. S. Millingham, Clerk in Charge, appointed to the Lizard ,

5 Jan 1841 Woolwich, Mr C Walker has joined as clerk in charge.

16 Jan 1841, last Tuesday, the crew of the Lizard, under repair in the dock, on leaving their accommodation, the Salsette hulk-ship, moored in the river, to go ashore, embarked on the liberty boat which capsized and cast its 25 occupants into the river. Whilst some were carried down with the tide, and others clung to the chains of the hulk. Happily, a waterman by the name of Goddard happened to be nearby, and rescued them. Many were exhausted when taken out of the water.

21 Jan 1841, Woolwich, was paid wages in advance and will sail tomorrow for Portsmouth, Plymouth, and the Mediterranean.

11 Feb 1841 Plymouth, arrived from Portsmouth on Saturday, on her way to the Mediterranean. She is now having some defects repaired.
