Taken from the French by the Bedford in the Mediterranean, 7 Oct 1793 ;

Notes:

30 Sep 1793 Bedford sailed from Toulon for Genoa with the Captain and brig Speedy, arriving off Genoa on 5 Oct and captured the French 36-gun frigate Modeste, and two armed tartans : Modeste was taken into the RN.

1 Jan 1799, In ordinary at Portsmouth, to repair.

23 Jul 1800, Portsmouth, sailed the Modeste, armed en flute, for Cork.

28 Aug 1800, Portsmouth, arrived with 300 riflemen from Cork.

22 Sep 1800, Portsmouth, arrived the Modeste, Captain Hinton, with four transports from Guerney,

16 Oct 1800, Portsmouth, sailed with the Dido, and Resource, with troops for the Mediterranean.

8 Mar to 2 Sep 1801 service off the coast of Egypt.

1805 Lower Hope, Thames, in Ordinary ; Floating Battery.

8 Oct 1808 cruising off Sandshead, bay of Bengal, after a nine hours' chase, and a running fight of nearly one hour, captured the French corvette Jéna [Jean], which was added to the British navy under the name of the ship-sloop Victor.

3 Aug 1811 a part of the fleet involved in the invasion of Java, which terminated with the surrender of Dutch and French forces on 16 Sep.

6 Feb 1813 captured the French privateer Furet.

Portsmouth 7 Feb 1813 Arrived from the East Indies.
