17 Nov 1863 Great Yarmouth Hospital established as an Asylum for Lunatics :
Appointment and Pay of Agent and Steward.
Order in Council. We beg leave most humbly to represent to Your Majesty that the demand for the accommodation of patients in Your Majesty's Naval Hospital at Haslar has recently made it desirable to remove the lunatics in that establishment to the Naval premises at Great Yarmouth, which have therefore been fitted for their reception; and with the view of providing an officer, as at the other Naval Hospitals, whose duty will be to conduct the internal management of this establishment, we beg leave most humbly to submit that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased to authorize the appointment of an Agent and Steward at Yarmouth Hospital, with the salary of 300/. a-year, rising after five years' service to 400/., the Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury having signified their concurrence with this arrangement.
