Greenwich Hospital.

Notes:

10 Apr 1841, Greenwich Out Pension. Captain John Gourly, Commanders George Hillier and Joseph Patey, with retired Commander John Anderson, were on the 16th ult. placed on the out-pension of Greenwich.

10 Jul 1841, Captain Loch, of the Victory, is to succeed Captain Clavell as superintendent of Chatham Dockyard, who is removed to be one of the Captains of Greenwich Hospital, vice Larkan, deceased.

28 Aug 1841 27 Aug 1841, Captain Superintendent W. H. Shirreff, at Deptford dockyard, has been appointed Captain Superintendent at Chatham Dockyard in place of Captain Superintendent J. Clavell, removed to Greenwich Hospital.

30 Oct 1841, A vacancy for a commander, out pensioner of Greenwich Hospital, has fallen vacant by the recent death of Commander Keenan, R.N. (1812.)

11 Dec 1841, Surgeon A. Nesbitt, appointed to Greenwich Hospital, vice J. Wilson, appointed Deputy Inspector to the Minden, for China.

Jan 1889, The Admiralty have ordered that the established Naval and Greenwich Hospital pensions for officers shall not be held in addition to any other pensions, except it be in addition to :-

  1. a pension or annuity conferred for wounds or injuries received in the service ; or
  2. to a pension granted with the Victoria Cross, and its additional bars, or with the conspicuous gallantry medal ; or
  3. to a sum added to retired pay or pension, on account of the reward for distinguished or meritorious service granted under article 1,138.
