20 Mar 1854 tender to the Maeander, is reported to be cruising in the Mozambique Channel.

18 Aug 1854 sailed for Johanna to aid Mr. Consul Sunley in forming Anti-Slave Trade Treaties with chiefs of the Comoro and Mohilla. From thence he was required to visit Mozambique and Angoza per Lord Clarendon's letter of 28 Apr 1854.
