Type: Sloop ; Armament 22
Purchased by Government in 1798 ;
Disposal date or year : 1801
Notes:
1 Jan 1799, Capt. T. Palmer. At Sheerness.
3 May 1800, the unfortunate death was reported of Captain Palmer, of the Selby sloop of war, who shot himself in a fit of insanity; which circumstance, however deplorable, will tend, in the eyes of his friends, to lessen the calamity. This melancholy event took place at the Nore, on May the 3d, at half past seven o'clock in the morning.
27 Jun-8 Jul 1800 per the medals that were belatedly awarded in 1847 formed a part of the flotilla that was involved in the boarding and capturing of the French frigate Désirée, and attempt to burn other vessels at Dunkirk, but would erroneously appear to have been described as a cutter.
