31 Jul 1841, Lieutenant Phillip Hart appointed to command the Spy.
7 Aug 1841, Clerk-In-Charge J. J. Winsom, appointed to the Spy brig.
4 Nov 1841, arrived at Plymouth from Portsmouth, and sailed for Liverpool for recruits for the Navy.
13 Nov 1841, Plymouth, arrived from Liverpool, with volunteers.
16 Dec 1841, arrived Plymouth.
23 Dec 1841, Lieutenant John M. Pothbury (Lieutenant-Commander of the Spy), appointed to the San Josef, 110, being appointed flag lieutenant of Rear-Admiral Superintendent Sir S. Pym, K.C.B.
23 Dec 1841, Plymouth, refitting in Harbour.
27 Dec 1841, Plymouth, went from the harbour into the Sound ; was paid advance of wages.
24 Jan 1843 the Spy, when in company with the Persian, detained after a chase of 9 hours off Great Popoe, the Brazilian slave brigantine Bom Fim, Silvio Nunez Burity, master, which was sent for adjudication to the British and Brazilian Court of Mixed Commission, Sierra Leone, and on 6 Mar 1843 sentenced to be condemned.
24 Jan 1843 detained, within 60 miles of Whydah, the slave trading mart, the Brazilian slave brig Clio, Joaquim Antonio de Cerquera, master, which was sent for adjudication to the British and Brazilian Court of Mixed Commission, Sierra Leone, and on 21 Mar 1843 sentenced to be condemned. 18 Sep 1844 prize monies arising due for payment.
29 May 1843 detained off Little Popo the Brazilian slave schooner Esperanca, Antonio Alexandre Gonsalves, master, which was sent for adjudication to the British and Brazilian Court of Mixed Commission, Sierra Leone, and on 18 Jul 1843 sentenced to be condemned. 18 Sep 1844 prize monies arising due for payment.
8 Aug 1843 detained in lat. 5° 3' N. long. 2° 56' E., after a 12 hour chase, en route from Lagos to the coast of Brazil, the Brazilian slave brig Furia, Jozé Soares Monteiro, master, with 532 slaves on board, which was sent for adjudication to the British and Brazilian Court of Mixed Commission, Sierra Leone, and on 18 Sep 1843 sentenced to be condemned.
5 Sep 1843 in lat. 6° 1' N. long. 2° 17' E., following a chase of 4 hours, the crew of the Brazilian slave schooner L'Egeria, ran her ashore 7 miles to leeward of Appee, and escaped. The vessel having been destroyed the case was sent for adjudication to the British and Brazilian Court of Mixed Commission, Sierra Leone, and on 24 Jan 1844 sentenced to be condemned.
20 Nov 1843 detained in Lat. 6° 18' N., long. 2° 31' E, off Whydah, the Brazilian slave schooner Linda, Thomas Neville dos Passos, master, was sent for adjudication to the British and Brazilian Mixed Court of Justice, Sierra Leone, and on 29 Dec 1843 sentenced to be condemned.
3 Apr 1844 detained in Lat. 7° 7' N. Long. 4° 48' E. the Spanish slave vessel Maria Louisa, 60 tons, when in company with the Penelope, condemned in the Mixed British and Spanish Court at Sierra Leone.
19 Aug 1845, anchored in Rio harbour with the Grecian, Crescent, Seagull, and Penguin ; survey vessels Herald and Pandora ; US vessels Raritan, and Bainbridge ; and Brazilian frigate Isabella, when the survey vessels Herald and Pandora arrived.
1846 is reported to have departed from the West Coast of Africa for the Pacific Station
19 Dec 1846 H.M. brig Spy sailed from Honolulu for Tahiti on the 19th September. Passenger for Sydney - Mr. F. J. Greenway.

10 Jul 1850, when in company with the Flying Fish, detained in lat. 11° 30' S., lon. 13° 80' E., the Brazilian slave brigantine Vingador, 235 tons.
3 Nov 1851 detained by a ship's boat in Lat. 8° 30' N., Long. 13° 15' W., when bound from Sherbro for the mud bar of the River Pongos, 2 slave canoes, with 56 slaves on board : the canoes being unseaworthy, were destroyed, and the case was sent for adjudication to the Vice-Admiralty Court at Sierra Leone, and on 13 Nov 1851 sentenced to be condemned.
4 Jun 1853 detained in Lat. 6° 12' N., long. 1° 40' E., off Aghwey, on suspicion of being engaged in the slave trade, the Portuguese slave schooner Aguia, Antonio Alves de Amorim, master, was sent for adjudication to the British and Portuguese Court of Mixed Commission, St. Paul de Loanda, and on 6 Oct 1853 sentenced to be restored to her master upon arbitration.
12 Feb 1858 arrived Monte Video from Colona and Buenos Ayres and on the 27th sent her on a cruise with a view to intercept a slaver shortly due from the coast of Africa, precise location not yet given.
