27 Nov 1847 Sydney. Loss of Loss of Two French Ships of War.- By the Orwell, which arrived on Wednesday last, from Shanghai, we learn that the French frigate La Gloire, Captain Lapierre, and the corvette La Victorieuse, Captain Rigand de Genouilli, struck on a shoal in the Corea (China Sea), about the middle of August last, and became total wrecks - all hands, however, were saved, as also a portion of the sails, guns, stores, &c. ; two of the English ships of war on the station, having proceeded to their assistance, on information being received of the disaster at Shanghai by the arrival there of some of the officers and crew in two boats, the whole of whom subsequently proceeded to Macao.
