Wildfire (RN Barracks, Sheerness), 1838
Notes:
1855/56 The "Lofts" at Sheerness, later to be known as RN Barracks, Sheerness, under the ship name of Wildfire.
1855/56 Midshipman's opinion of being based at Sheerness and theft of Government stores from dockyards.
25 May 1891 whilst practising with a machine gun on board HMS Trent, it is reported that the cartridges exploded in the hopper of the gun. Colour-Sergeant Young, Sergeant Elvins, and Private Robert Tripp were injured by pieces of cartridge and have been admitted to the Sick Bay at the RN Barracks at Sheerness.
29 Sep 1891 it has been proposed that the RN Barracks should converted into a gunnery school for the Nore Command and whether or not the conversion should include electric lighting.
