ADM 175 6 Establishment Book for Coast Guard Stations, Inspecting Commanders, and Mounted Guards for England for the period 1833-1844, in Page Order.

Regret that on occasion the page numbers on this piece have gone a bit awry, a few pages having got out of order prior to binding, and I've therefore included both the numbers, when provided and readable, you'll see what I mean, but I hope this makes identifying the pages a little easier.

To find your man the source, ADM 175 06, can be downloaded for free from the National Archives at :

http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/browse/r/h/C60190

see ADM 175, so you can carry out your research at home.

Some of the pages for some stations have overrun their allotted space, and are therefore continued on separate pages elsewhere, hopefully usually noted accordingly.

To avoid making separate tables I've not separated the Coast Guard Stations from the Inspecting Commanders, Mounted Guard, the latter two following on at the end of the table.

To those not familiar with Coast Guard Stations for England they usually start listing them from the South East, along the southern shore of the River Thames, and follow the coast round from the County of Kent, to Sussex, and westwards along the coast to Cornwall. You may note that the Coast Guard Stations are concentrated around the South East, where the main problem with smugglers existed, and although there are plenty along the South Coast they are spaced out a little further from each other, until the stop altogether in the Bristol Channel and restart again in the North East of England on the border with Scotland, at Berwick, and follow the East Coast of England down to the North Coast of the River Thames, opposite where we started.

Separate volumes exist for Ireland and Scotland.

Abbreviations :
M.G. = Mounted Guard
I.C. = Inspecting Commanders
