Jumna - New brig of war launched at Bombay


A new brig of war Jumna, 16 guns, 450 tons, was launched this morning from the Dock Yard, in the presence of a vast assemblage of Europeans and natives, including almost the whole of the elite of Bombay. The Honorable Mrs. Reid performed the ceremony of christening the vessel. The Jumna glided majestically into the water, the band playing "Rule Britannia," and a salute being fired from the battery. The Honorable the Governor and suite were present.- Bombay Times March 7.


Rear Admiral Inglefield, Naval Commander-in-Chief of the East Indies, and nominally of this station, died at Bombay the latter end of February, aged sixty-six years.
