HMS POWERFUL returned to Portsmouth with the naval defenders of Ladysmith

The return of the POWERFUL to home waters was made the occasion of demonstrations that were not confined to Portsmouth. National feeling had its expression at the port in the cheers and other displays of feeling that marked the home-coming of the heroes of Ladysmith; but local feeling had still to have its vent in the various places where the ship's officers have their home. Captain the Hon. Hedworth Lambton had telegrams of welcome from the Queen and the Duke of York
