Allowance to Engineer Officers supervising instruction of newly entered Boy Artificers

Whereas it is necessary to appoint Engineer Officers of Your Majesty's Fleet to supervise the instruction of newly entered Boy Artificers at the Home Ports.

And whereas we are of opinion that Engineer Officers so appointed shall receive extra pay for the duty in question.

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the grant to Engineer Officers while supervising the instruction of Boy Artificers, of an allowance at the rate of 3s. a day, to take effect from 20th January 1903.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

Admiralty Order in Council No. 151

22nd October 1906.

Allowances to certain Engineer Officers appointed for duty at Mechanical Training Establishments for Boy Artificers and Mechanicians

Whereas we have had under consideration the pay and allowances of certain Engineer Officers appointed for duty at the Mechanical Training Establishments for Boy Artificers and Mechanicians :

And whereas we are of opinion that these Officers should receive extra pay for the duty in question :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the grant of an allowance of Five Shillings a day to the Engineer Commander on the Staff of the Inspecting Captain, and Three Shillings a day to the Senior Engineer Lieutenant appointed for supervision of the Mechanicians Training Establishment, these allowances to be retrospective where necessary to the respective dates of the appointments of the Officers in question.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

Junior Engineer Officers appointed for Instructional Duties in Mechanical Training Establishments - Additional Allowances

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 21st day of December, 1907.

Present, The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.

Whereas there was this day read at the Board a Memorial from the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated the seventeenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and seven, in the words following, viz.:

Whereas by section three of the Naval and Marine Pay and Pensions Act, 1865, etc.

And whereas by Your Orders in Council of the 9th October, 1903, and 22 October, 1906, Your Majesty was graciously pleased to sanction the payment of certain allowances to the Engineer Officers appointed for the supervision of the Mechanical Training Establishments for Boy Artificers and Mechanicians.

And whereas we are of opinion that the increase of work in these Establishments now necessitates the grant of extra remuneration also to the junior Engineer Officers appointed thereto for instructional duties:

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order m Council to sanction the payment of special allowances at the rate of two shillings a day, in compensation for loss of charge pay, to each of the junior Engineer Officers appointed for instructional duties in these Establishments.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

His Majesty, having taken the said Memorial into consideration, was pleased, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, etc.

Engineer Officer in Charge of the Training of Stokers in the three Home Ports - Allowances
At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 12th day of August, 1913.

Present, The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.

Whereas there was this day read at the Board a Memorial from the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated the 1st day of August, 1913, in the words following, viz.:

Whereas, by Section 3 of the Naval and Marine Pay and Pensions Act, 1865, etc.

And whereas we are of opinion that the duties and responsibilities of the engineer officer in charge of the training of stokers, second class, at each of the three home ports are such as to merit the payment of an allowance in addition to full pay :

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the grant at our discretion of an allowance of three shillings a day to each of the officers in question, with retrospective effect as from the first day of January, 1913 :

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

His Majesty having taken the said Memorial into consideration, was pleased, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, to approve of what is therein proposed. And the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty are to give the necessary directions herein accordingly.

LG 1914 01 27 P 13 Engineer Officers - Instruction of Older Cadets - Allowance
And whereas we have found it necessary to enter a limited number of Naval Cadets at a later age than is customary, and under special conditions as to advancement:

And whereas we are of opinion that the Engineer Officers engaged in the supervision of the engineering instruction of such Cadets should receive extra remuneration:

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the grant of a special allowance of 2s. 6d. a day each to the Engineer Officers mentioned, with retrospective effect as from the date on which the officers appointed on the1st of September last began their special duties.
