Ratings Assisting Navigator - Allowances
At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 26th day of June, 1941.

Present, The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.

Whereas there was this day read at the Board a Memorial from the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated the 9th day of June, 1941 (N. 3012/41), in the words following, viz.:-

Whereas by Section 3 of the Naval and Marine Pay and Pensions Act, 1865, it is enacted inter alia that all pay, pensions or other allowances in the nature thereof payable in respect of services in Your Majesty's Naval or Marine Force to a person being or having been an Officer, Seaman or Marine therein shall be paid in such manner and subject to such restrictions, conditions and provisions as are from time to time directed by Order in Council:

And whereas we consider it desirable that some extra remuneration should be payable to seaman ratings detailed to assist the Navigating Officer in correcting charts in ships serving in home waters:

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction payment of an allowance of 3d. a day, with effect from 1st March, 1941, to ratings detailed to perform the aforesaid duties.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

His Majesty, having taken the said Memorial into consideration, was pleased, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, to approve of what is therein proposed.

And the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty are to give the necessary directions herein accordingly.

Navigator's Yeoman - Addl Allces
At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 22nd day of July, 1943

Present, The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.

Whereas there was this day read at the Board a Memorial from the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated the 15th day of July, 1943 (N. 15237/43). in the words following, viz.:-

Whereas by Section 3 of the Naval and Marine Pay and Pensions Act, 1865, it is enacted inter alia that all pay, pensions or other allowances in the nature thereof payable in respect of services in Your Majesty's Naval or Marine Force to a person being or having been an Officer, Seaman or Marine therein shall be paid in such manner and subject to such restrictions, conditions and provisions as are from time to time directed by Order in Council:

And whereas by Order in Council dated 26th June, 1941, sanction is given for the payment of an allowance of 3d. per diem to seamen ratings detailed to assist the Navigating Officer in correcting charts in ships serving in Home Waters:

And whereas we consider it desirable that the conditions governing this employment, and the remuneration, should be placed on an improved basis whereby the ratings may receive training and also be encouraged to remain on the duty:

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty by Your Order in Council may be graciously pleased to sanction for the period of the war, the institution of the following non-substantive ratings and rates of pay in the place of the existing allowance :

Navigator's Yeoman, 2nd Class - 6d. per diem.
Navigator's Yeoman, 1st Class - 9d. per diem.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in the above proposal.

Allowances to Navigators Yeoman when serving abroad

Present, The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.

Whereas there was this day read at the Board a Memorial from the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated the 22nd day of September, 1945 (N. 15785/45), in the words following, viz.:-

Whereas by Section 3 of the Naval and Marine Pay and Pensions Act, 1865, it is enacted, inter alia, that all pay, pensions or other allowances in the nature thereof payable in respect of services in Your Majesty's Naval or Marine Force to a person being or having been an Officer, Seaman, or Marine therein, shall be paid in such manner and subject to such restrictions, conditions and provisions as are from time to time directed by Order in Council:

And whereas by Order in Council dated 26th June, 1941, sanction was given for the payment of an allowance of 3d. per diem to seamen ratings detailed to assist the Navigating Officer in correcting charts in ships serving in Home Waters:

And whereas we consider it necessary that the allowance should also be paid in ships abroad

And whereas a similar need has now arisen in all Fleet and Light Fleet Aircraft Carriers for a specially trained rating to assist the Operations Officer in the correction and handling of air charts and papers:

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the payment of an allowance of 3d. per diem, with effect from 6th July, 1945, to ratings detailed to perform the aforesaid duties at home and abroad.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in these proposals.
