Establishment of Radar Control and a Radar Plot Branches (SQ)
At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 17th day of November, 1943.

Present, The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.

Whereas there was this day read at the Board a Memorial from the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated the 8th day of November, 1943 (N/T.SD.600/43), in the words following, viz.:-

Whereas by Section 3 of the Naval and Marine Pay and Pensions Act, 1865, it is enacted inter alia that all pay, pensions or other allowances in the nature thereof payable in respect of services in Your Majesty's Naval or Marine Force to a person being or having been an Officer, Seaman or Marine therein shall be paid in such manner and subject to such restrictions, conditions and provisions as are from time to time directed by Order in Council:

And whereas the growing importance of Radar and Associated equipment in Your Majesty's Fleet have made it necessary to revise the present system of Radar and Plotting training and organisation:

And whereas with a view to facilitating the provision of ratings qualified in the operation and utilisation of this equipment, we consider it expedient to establish a Radar Control Branch and a Radar Plot Branch, to form a non-substantive part of the Seaman Branch:

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased, by Your Order in Council, to sanction the institution of the following non-substantive ratings with pay as shown:

Radar Control Ratings.
Radar Control Rating 2nd Class, 0s. 9d. per diem . for Leading Seamen and below
Radar Control Rating 2nd Class, 0s. 6d. per diem for Petty Officers and above.
Radar Control Rating 1st Class, 1s. 6d. per diem.  
Radar Control Instructor, 2s. 0d. per diem.  
Radar Plot Ratings.
Radar Plot Rating 3rd Class, 0s. 3d. per diem.  
Radar Plot Rating 2nd Class, 0s. 9d. per diem for Leading Seamen and below.
Radar Plot Rating 2nd Class, 0s. 6d. per diem for Petty Officers and above.
Radar Plot Rating 1st Class, 1s. 6d. per diem.  
Radar Plot Instructor, 2s. 0d. per diem.  

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in the above proposals.

His Majesty, having taken the said Memorial into consideration, was pleased, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, to approve of what is therein proposed.

And the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty are to give the necessary directions herein accordingly.
